Stephen N. Grimes, MD
Ophthalmologist
Stephen N. Grimes, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of cataracts, glaucoma and general medical conditions of the eye. He joined the staff at Koch Eye Associates in 2008.
A graduate of Fairfield University and St. Louis Medical School, he interned at Rhode Island Hospital and went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at St. Louis University Hospital.
Dr. Grimes’ professional affiliations include the Rhode Island Medical Society, Rhode Island Ophthalmology Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Currently on staff at Newport Hospital, he has also generously donated his time during his career by completing 10 medical missions to Nicaragua.
The son of an ophthalmologist, Dr. Grimes grew up in Newport, Rhode Island with his 15 brothers and sisters. He and his wife are lifelong residents of Rhode Island where he is actively involved in the Aquidneck Island community. He is on the Board of Trustees of the Newport Music Festival, of which he has been a part for more than 20 years, holding a position on the Executive Committee and as Treasurer of the Board.
Dr. Grimes and his wife currently reside in Portsmouth.
