Had an 11 o clock appointment on March 12 2024 told them I needed to be back at work promptly by 12:30. Assured me I'd be back with plenty time to spare. Never updated me that the doctor was behind seeing patients as time continued to pass didn't get me back until 11:55 front desk was very unprofessional. I was subsequently late back to my professional career. Later that day returned to get lenses with my new prescription. Another woman behind the counter was also rude and unprofessional told me my insurance didn't cover it even though it does. Never even bothered to look it up despite me telling her I am covered. Think she assumed based on how I look that there's no possible way I could have adequate insurance coverage. Very hurtful and disrespectful. Then informs me of a policy which costs 25 dollars to bring your own frames while simultaneously asking me to sign a waiver that makes them not liable or responsible if my new frames are damaged. This is clearly a moral hazard. I asked what's the failure rate that such damages occur, she refused to answer. I asked who is the manufacturer that does the work she refused to tell me. I asked if she could contact them to inquire, she said she cannot. I asked for the contact info so that I may ask myself, she replied "well they don't want people calling harassing them."Confused I asked if me calling them is considered harassment. She rolled her eyes and explained it was not (I already knew that) again I think she said this based on how I look despite the fact that I never gave her a reason to believe this other than what she assumed about me. Strange that they would want to take my money and have my business while simultaneously refusing to tell me who I am doing business with. Seems like in all likelihood if I would have signed the waiver and sent my frames they would have been deliberately broken so that I be forced to buy a complete pair of frames and lenses from them. Disgusting behavior from the employees and a clear moral hazard/predatory policy masquerading as a legitimate business. I told her have a nice day despite all of this, she was shocked that I could still manage to have manners at the end of her gross behavior and lack of professionalism. Ironically I went to LensCrafters and they had no such policy/waiver/fee. Probably because they aren't running a scam. Doctor I saw was great sadly the front office/retail staff was so horrible I wouldn't go back if they were the only one in a 100 mile radius. I advise you don't either. More

Dr. Fantoni and her staff were friendly and efficient, but without rushing such that I felt free to ask about anything I was interested or concerned about (even asking about an eyelid lift for my increasingly saggy lids and whom to see about something like that— not a procedure any of the doctors there do, but they can refer me to someone). The Claris Vision eyeglass shop staff were also very friendly and helpful, taking the time to double check all measurements were right and all the latest lens options were discussed while keeping in mind just how much my insurance would cover. I went to Koch Eye associates for an annual eye exam.  I recently moved to Rhode Island and needed a physician in my area.  I found Dr Santos cold with little to no "bedside manner".  It took three weeks to get new contact lenses to try.  I had to go for a "fitting appointment" and got new lenses to try.  After 6 hours the lenses irritated my eyes and I removed them.   I left numerous messages but Dr Santos never called back.  When I call again and insisted that he give me another brand of lens to try I was told that I needed to come in for yet ANOTHER appointment.  I reported Koch Eye associates to my insurance company and United Health agreed that Koch Eye was "padding " appointments to collect more money from the insurance company.  I have switched to anothert eye doctor.  I would never recommend Koch Eye Associates and I will never go back to them. I started going to this office about a year ago. I have been very pleased with my care. Dr LeBlanc spends a good amount of time with me on each visit. She explains everything carefully and completely. Being over 60, I have multiple concerns and she addresses all of them thoroughly. I recently had a problem with one of my eyes and they fit me in that day! I am very happy to be a patient here. More

I personally did not have a good experience. I was felt this surgery was really "sold" to me as quick and painless (just "discomfort"), with extremely minimal downtime. That was not the case at all. A few key points (1) the pain directly after the surgery was excruciating, 10/10. I had not taken pain medicine because I was not warned and rather told I would only feel uncomfortable. (2) This is an expensive center comparatively and i was given the cheapest sunglasses after the surgery for the ride home (I was expected sufficient blackout glasses) then they did no followup call to check in - not one single time (3) my eyes have been very dry since the surgery and I have been struggling to conduct normal hours of online work. I have a virtual position and need to be working on a computer for long hours - i was told I would be back to normal work within three days which was not true. (4) I did not meet the doctor who conducted my surgery until the moment before it occurred, and saw different people in each appointment - there was no consistency with personnel (with the exception of one assistant who had never undergone lasik herself). Two months later I still have light sensitivity, dryness... I still do not feel my eyes are back to normal. Overall, I felt like they treated me as client being sold a car not a patient being provided a serious medical procedure. The risks and pain were not properly relayed at all. There was inefficient followup (even though they knew I was having issues). More

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Burns & Koch Eye Associates in South Kingstown. I've never had a problem getting an appointment, and all my questions are thoroughly answered by the doctor as well as the staff conducting different tests. I have a fairly complicated medical situation, with multiple issues that tend to complicate treatment. Dr. Burns has always been able to find the right course of treatment to keep my eyes healthy, and still seeing pretty sharp, especially considering my age. I have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Burns to any of my friends. As far as prescription glasses go, I have gotten several pair here and the last pair of wound up having scratches in them after about 4 or 5 months of wear. I brought them back, and without any discussion, or complicated processes, lenses were replaced under warranty. Couldn't ask for better service. More

Just as the July 4 three day weekend was beginning, I became concerned about a sudden change of vision in one of my eyes and, to make a long story short, my regular eye doctor (who is not affiliated with Koch) was already out of town and Koch was the only local eye specialist I reached that was willing or able to take me so late in the day - literally just before closing when there was just one doctor still in the office. Dr. Burns and the entire staff were excellent. It could’ve been a much more stressful weekend without them. More

My daughter and I had a very good experience at Koch Eye Associates on Greenwich Avenue. From the front desk woman, who was kind and efficient, to the examination with Dr. Leblanc. I highly recommend scheduling an appointment at this office. We also interacted with Lauren, and Chris, the office manager, who were both lovely and very professional. Dr. Leblanc took time listening to my sixteen year old daughter explain some trouble she had been having with discomfort in her eyes. After a thorough examination, she made some recommended changes and ever since my dauughter's comfort level has improved. Thank you Koch! Looking forward to a long relationship! More

Review from B.R.  |  Source: Yelp  |  Oct 30, 2020

Absolutely loved my results. I had moderate to high myopia -7.00 to -7.50 in both of my eyes and I was still a candidate for lasik. The procedure is definitely a bit nerve wracking but they walk through every step as they go, and the staff is very comforting. The entire procedure is maybe 10-15 minutes, hang in there, it is so worth it. I am less than 24 hours post op and I can see almost perfectly clear. I had some burning for about 4-5 hours after my procedure, the best way I can describe it is, it felt like I had been cutting onions. Uncomfortable but not unbearable. Dr. Gerber was recommended to me by a co worker, he pleasant and put me at ease answering all my questions in the consult, I also elected to have him do my procedure as well and he was fantastic. The front desk staff and techs are also all fabulous. If you have an HSA or FSA you can use it, and my VSP vision insurance also covered 15% of the procedure. Absolutely life changing for someone with a script that was a bad as mine! A small price to pay in the long run for amazing vision. More

I wanted to wait a few months before I wrote my review. It turns out to be the best decision I ever made. I had trouble at first doing the pre test because it's hard for me to keep my eyes open so they had me come back. They were very patient with me. The place is very clean and all the doctors are nice. They are also very good with appointments for post op, you don't have to wait long like most doctors. I would highly recommend this place if you chose to have Laser Eye surgery done. More

I had been going to Vision World/ Works for the last 20 years for eye exams, glasses, contacts. When I was last seen a few years ago I was told my eyes had weakened and I needed -6.0 in my left eye and -5.0 in my right, a substantial increase from -4.75 left and -3.75 right two years before. Needless to say I experienced hyperopia and needed readers for the first time. I wasn't able to read labels, see my phone, or use a laptop without readers of at least +2.5. I was recently seen by Dr Besen at Koch Eye who prescribed contacts of -5.25 left and -4.25 right. I'm absolutely certain that Vision World had me in lenses that were too strong because now I can see my laptop without readers, and I can see my phone if I hold it at arms length. Not only can I see better (for distance as well as close up), but the entire experience of walking into Koch, being greeted by reception, having a preliminary exam by the optician assistants, receiving a full eye exam by the optometrist, being properly fitted for glasses by the optician, and checking out with reception, is exponentially superior with Koch. Clearly the entire staff enjoy their careers, and are friendly, professional, and completely competent. Thank you, Koch Eye Associates! I will recommend you to everyone I know. Sincerely, Kate Carroll More

I’ll begin this review by explaining that I haven’t ever been to an eye doctor before. Even though I pay for supplemental vision insurance through my employer, I thought the only people who needed to go to the eye doctor were people who needed or wore glasses. Here’s the PSA part of the review: That’s not true, it is recommended that people see an eye doctor every one to two years -  even if they are not experiencing any concerns. So, now you know. I had been experiencing watery, itchy eyes for a few months and though it was just allergy related but decided I should stop complaining about it and finally go see a doctor to get an actual answer. I was terrified to go to my first visit and had no idea what to expect. I called Koch Eye based on a recommendation from a friend and because of how close it is to where I work. I’ll be honest, the waiting area was cluttered and outdated and I almost psyched myself out from checking in for my appointment based on my first impression of the office. But before I could turn around to exit, the person working behind the desk, came out of the back and greeted me. She checked me in, completed my new patient paperwork electronically and brought me in to the exam room. The staff was warm and welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Bea (pronounced bay) explained what she would be doing and what I could expect to feel as she added drops and dyes to my eyes. She performed a series of tests and took a good look in my eyes after they were dilated. Dr Bea was really easy to work with and even though I was nervous about all of the equipment and scary looking old-timey mechanical gadgets she was using, she kept me comfortable and at ease. I work in technology so the doctor administered an additional test that checked how my vision responded when items were close up and made a recommendation that I may benefit from wearing transition glasses at work or when I began experiencing eye fatigue from staring at a screen or tablet for extended periods of time. She also wrote out a plan to help manage my dry and itchy eyes which has helped tremendously. While I don’t have any other experiences to compare this one with, I would recommend Dr Bea and I look forward to seeing her next year. More

I was so scared at first because it was something new and not knowing what to expect, everyone was so caring and informative. Now after at having perfect vision I am now starting with blurred vision. I have called for an appointment and was told that the lasik only lasts for a certain amount of time! I was never told that, but it does make sense as our eyes do change with age...will update this after the next appt. More

I recently had my eye exam and I was very impressed that my new eye doctor took time with the exam and told me why my eyes where itching alot because of dry eye syndrome and she was nice enough to give me free samples of lubricated eye drops . Also I like to thank that nice lady Danielle for taking me right away before seeing the eye doctor she was very polite and so was the receptionist. I recommend this place to friends and family and my mother wants to go. Also, my eyes did change a little bit and I had to pick out my glasses and I really like them. Also, I received a call a week after my eye exam and they told,me my glasses were ready and when I put them on what a big difference I can see alot better. Thank you again Koch Associates I will be back next year!  :-) More

Patti Koch is one of the best eye doctors around.  Her singsong voice will stay with you for days. Honestly.  If Mary Poppin's was an eye doctor, she would be Patti. The office is always clean, has televisions and magazines out front, and the staff is warm and welcoming.  You can order your contacts and glasses through this facility, and they have decent prices. As awkward as a trip to an eye doctor can be, with the puffs of air, random drops in you eyes, not being able to distinguish E from B....Patti turns the experience around and makes it a breeze. I have seen a few other doctors at this office, and haven't loved them as much (hence the 4 stars,) but will see them if Patti isn't free. More
